Size and material

Square coasters measure 93 × 93 mm and are printed in full colour on 470 g beer mat board. The board is thick and rigid, lies flat on the table and gives colours a clean matte finish. The same material is used for every design and every quantity.

When to choose square

Choose square when your artwork is rectangular or text led. Wordmarks, short messages, patterns and edge to edge illustrations usually look better on a square than inside a circle. Square coasters also line up neatly on a bar top or a table setting, which suits restaurants, hotel bars and wine bars with a precise, design conscious style.

A format made for typography

Square coasters have a practical advantage for text: lines of type sit naturally on a square layout without the curve of a circle cutting into them. That makes the format ideal for quotes, wordmarks, signature drink names, slogans and bold graphic compositions. Square coasters also photograph well from above, which helps when guests share their drinks on social media and your coaster appears in the frame. Tips for square artwork

Prepare your file at 93 × 93 mm, or larger in the same proportion. Keep important text and logos a few millimetres away from the edges, use vector artwork where possible, and make sure images are at least 300 DPI at the final size. Everything you need is in our artwork guidelines.
